Scoring Rules

Earn points by predicting match scores and tournament outcomes. Here's exactly how every point is awarded.

Match predictions

Every match is scored on a sliding scale — the closer your prediction, the more points you earn.

3

Exact score

You nailed the final score exactly — e.g. you predicted 2–1 and it finished 2–1.

2

Correct goal difference

Right winner and right margin, but not the exact score — e.g. you said 2–1 and it finished 3–2.

1

Correct outcome

Right winner, or correctly called a draw, but the margin was off.

0

Miss

Wrong outcome — no points awarded.

Bonus picks

Long-range calls you make before the action starts.

3

Favorite team

3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss — every match your team plays.

20

Tournament champion

Awarded if you pick the team that lifts the trophy.

3

Group winner

Earned for every group whose top team you predict correctly.

Knockout matches

From the Round of 32 onward, ties are settled differently for match scoring and for the champion bonus.

  • Match predictions are graded on the score after regulation and extra time.
  • A penalty shoot-out never changes the scored result — a match that finishes level and is decided on penalties is scored as a draw.
  • For the tournament champion bonus, the team that wins the shoot-out is treated as the one that advances and, in the final, lifts the trophy.

Daily quiz

When predictions lock

  • Match predictions lock at kickoff.
  • Group-winner picks lock at that group's first kickoff.
  • Your favorite team and tournament champion lock when the knockout stage begins.
  • Once a pick is locked you can no longer change it.
  • If you left a locked pick blank, the one-time "God's Hand" lifeline on the Bonus page can randomly fill every blank pick for you — it can only be used once.
  • Once a final result is entered, every prediction is re-scored automatically.

Tie-breakers

If two players finish level on points, the one with more exact-score hits ranks higher.
